Best time for Gannets at Bempton Cliffs (1 Viewer)

I want to photograph Gannets in flight. I have been practising with my Panansonic FZ30 and a red dot sight.

I think Bempton Cliffs would be best?

Between April and August seems to be a good time. Can anyone with local knowledge give advice on the best time if any?

I went in July of this year and had some fantastic views of them in flight. Kind of got me hooked so much that another trip will be on the cards for about May time next year.

End of june we went and the noise was unbelievable. Thousands of the little beauts!

Forgot to add to the PM we went in May this year and other years it has been both in May and June and we have seen plenty.

When you go down from the centre towards the cliffs turn right and walk a couple of hundred yards along to the rocks that jut out where many of them nest. You get some good photos from this area and also it is a really good place for flight shots.

We had lovely views of adults with young in July...lots of activity and flying Gannets on tap. .....so I would suggest June or August ...just so it's not overcrowded when I go.

We had a couple of moments where a Gannet would glide alongside us as we walked along the cliff top exactly matching our speed for a while.

Just a shame about the abundance of incorrect nesting material....particularly evident at the wonderful spot that Marmot described in the previous post.
