Saw this one this morning and didn’t look like any birds that have been coming to my back yard. Didn’t have my SLR camera, but took some poor quality shots with my phone camera. Never could get a clear shot when he was close. Had a fairly large bill.

Seems to be a tanager, pics and the description of the bill point to summer tanager, also the most common tanager sp in your area.
You may very well be right. I considered Tanager, but thought bill might be a little larger than one and it definitely eliminated a lot of other birds I might have considered. Didn't think I had ever seen one her at my house, but pulled up my bird photo folder after your post and found good sharp photos of one that I saw 1st of August in 2019 that was sitting on my back fence, almost exactly same time of year as this one. Had completely forgotten about it. Definitely a Summer Tanager.
