Birdguides review of Vortex Razor UHD 8x32 (1 Viewer)

Interesting write-up, especially since the author does not even mention that their price obviously puts them on a level with the offerings from the Big Three. Or is it the Big Four now?
Not bad going for a company founded in 2004 in a fly turd on the map in southern WI.

Hats off to Vortex for understanding their market and doing what appears to be a very good job on the sales side. But well done, too, to Kamakura for actually making the product. Although they've been in the business for a heck of a lot longer than 20 years...

A pair of these just arrived in the mail yesterday. It's the first pair of binoculars I have purchased. I've been utilizing a little Vortex monocular which has been fine but have been eyeballing a proper pair of bins. I don't have a ton of experience with binoculars and it was between these Vortex, Nikon MHG, Leica Trinovid, or the Kowa Genesis. For reference I haven't touched any of the others mentioned (it was all based on what I could find for my price range). To my novice eye my first reaction is very good. They seem built like a tank albeit a few ounces heavier than some of the competition. The glass is crystal clear and I personally don't notice any CA but again, I have pretty limited experience. What edge fall off exists doesn't bother me in the slightest. Plenty of eye relief and I don't find any dark spots or kidney beaning as people call it. The image is bright and has a natural pop to it that is very pleasing. Overall I think it's a pair of binoculars that will certainly meet my needs without any desire to upgrade any time soon. I'd also add that the binocular harness is pretty nice. Fits well, light, not overly complicated to adjust or get set up right out of the box. Definitely feel confident in the warranty and customer support from what others have experienced. Originally from Wisconsin as well so I don't feel bad about supporting a home state company.
