Newly described since Sibley and Monroe.

According to Avibase, Howard and Moore accept it under the name Bluntschli's Vanga. Clements apparently does not (?), nor do Gill and Wright, leaving Hypositta as a monotypic genus with one species of Nuthatch Vanga. Its disputed taxonomic status rests on the two 1930s specimens, both juveniles.

Lump it, rename it, or keep as is?

I think I would go the rename route at this time. However, if I get the time (we have live in visitors at the moment) I might look in the extinct portion of the hardcover clements and see if I can find out more.

Nothing in the extinct portion of Clements. Birdlife has an entry, saying that further taxonomic studies are needed.

It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
