Hello there

Please ID these canaries taken in the Serengeti. The last photo is a lark I think judging by the bill.

Thanks

Marc

Well, OK, but what do we think that bird is behind the canary in the 2nd picture? Jeesh - what is that? looks like a cowbird or starling or something....

LOL. Only perhaps the most common bird in East Africa. Had one in my hand a couple days ago, as it seemed to prefer my living room to my garden.

Really? Maybe I ought to give this up - have to say that simply didn't occur to me. I don't know - looked different somehow, but I definitely don't have a better idea.

Smiles again. Thanks. While I've got you, do I have the wood sandpiper on Lake Nakuru right?

See the legs and toes.
Yup, those are definitely more intimidating than a bulbul's. Thought it looked 'starlingish'. Thanks. A female ('darker grey body and browner flight feathers') or a juvenile ('resembles a dull brown female') I presume.

By the black line on the face, isn't bird two a Yellow-fronted Canary? My first knee jerk reaction to bird 1 was a Grosbeak-Canary, but I am no expert
