CT Woodpecker Infestation - Help! (1 Viewer)

I'm visiting my daughter in Westbrook, CT. We are having trouble with woodpeckers hammering on the house's cedar siding. We would appreciate if other bird lovers out there have any tips on dissuading the birds from doing this. Thanks!

Ana Maria.

Are they actually drilling into the wood or just using it as a sounding board? I have no suggestions, I'm just curious.

They might be looking for insects. In some painted houses, they are actually getting calcium from their digging. I'm assuming your daughter's house is not painted but natural cedar?

Yes, it is untreated cedar siding, and there are not carpenter ants or other insects.
