Does focus peaking on mirrorless cameras work when mounted on scope eyepiece? (1 Viewer)

I have been using an old Canon Rebel dslr attached directly to my Celestron Ultimate spotting scope eyepiece using a t-ring. The results are okay, but because this method uses the scope as the lens, the dslr has to be in manual focus mode, so of course, this means no auto-focus. And getting accurate focus through the scope using manual is hit and miss to say the least. Also, this old dslr is heavy and the shutter produces “mirror slap” that affects the sharpness of pictures. I am thinking of upgrading to a mirrorless camera. I like the smallness and lightness (and no mirror slap), but also these newer cameras have focus peaking that is supposed to help focus in manual mode. Has anyone tried attaching their mirrorless camera directly to a spotting scope eyepiece (using the scope as the lens) and have you tried using the camera’s focus peaking while focusing the scope? Does this even work? To be clear, I’m not talking about mounting the camera above the scope’s eyepiece and using the camera’s lens.
Appreciate any feedback.
