EagleEye Generic Cable Release Bracket Question (1 Viewer)

On the EagleEye Generic Cable Release Bracket I noticed you can remove the large round black tripod adapter. I tried to use the Swarovski quick release metal thread to then tread through the EagleEye Bracket and then thread onto the camera. Almost but no luck.

Is it possible or has anyone removed the current metal screw in a quick release bracket and added a slightly longer screw? If so where would you buy such a screw and how would you extract it?

This may let me avoid only one area of how the camera is mounted. I'll put up a photo of my current setup.

Has anyone thought of another way to stabilize their setup? I don't like everything bearing weight on that one point.

Thanks!
