I would suspect this is Siberian, generally frosty appearance but photos of the rump & underwing would be needed to confirm.

Siberian is the default species and a number of subspecies are regular, but a few European do winter. Amur has occurred but I see nothing to suggest this one.

Hello,

not a confident comment, but do you have more pictures?

Its difficult to be sure and might well be sharpening artefact or some shadow structure/shadow, but arent there fine shaft-streaks on the rump and one uppertail-covert?

And as this is a thread where I learn from=thanks! , one more question: is the pp quite short for a Siberian Stonechat or within variation?

European isn't it? Would have thought the saturated and streaked uppertail coverts/rump, saturated breast and flanks and the suggestion at least of slightly darker throat point that way. The right hand of the OP image collage seems to be the only one suggestive of Siberian I thought, and probably because it's "washed out" compared to the other pics?

I've got zilch experience of Siberian though so best wait for others to comment.

Me too, as far as experience of Sibe Stncht. is concerned, also flagging the same right hand image in the collage of three (supercillium does look quite contrasty?)
Don’t know which race of Stonechat (if any) would be default in that neck of the sand?

Cheers
