The first ten days of October have been simply splendid as far as outdoor education and research are concerned, what with bird banding, warbler watching, hawk gawking, and general nature nurturing. "This Week at Hilton Pond" we talk about our most recent diverse adventures in South Carolina's Piedmont and the West Virginia mountains--some of which included Bill Thompson III of Bird Watcher's Digest.

To view our photo essay on everything from songbirds to hawks and insects to wildflowers, please visit the installment for for 1-10 October 2011 at http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek111001.html

While there don't forget to scroll down for a list of birds banded and recaptured during the period, as well as some miscellaneous nature notes about migrant warblers and our missing Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. We also acknowledge the generosity of recent donors who support the work of Hilton Pond Center and Operation RubyThroat.

Happy (Autumn) Nature Watching!

BILL
