Hi.

It looks like a slime mould called Enteridium lycoperdon, which is quite common this time of year. It is variable, but usually looks like a white ball thrown against a tree trunk, then it goes a greyish colour like this.

can someone identify this for me please ? i'm assuming it's very common but i've no idea. thanks.
