Getting the birds to eat the fatballs again (3 Viewers)

Noticed the birds hardly ever touch the fatballs like they use to so thought I’d move them to were the sunflower hearts & peanut feeders are and see if that will tempt them.

It can be the quality of the fatballs Euhan.......the cheaper ones being ignored as they're full of things like sawdust, straw and other things to bulk them out. Try using premium suet balls if you can and break some up for the Robins and Blackbirds. Good luck

Pat could be right Euan. I used to buy some on line they'd happily eat them for months, then suddenly didn't bother. Then they'd be interested again.

Home Bargains sell two types, being me, I bought the cheapest ones which they devoured for two years, sometimes I couldn't keep up with them, 4 in the morning, then another 4 in the afternoon!! Suddenly they wouldn't touch them. The same scenario at our edge of town feeding station. So I switched to the dearer ones and they seem happy with them.

My greedy lot are going through about 8 a day as well, from the delicate long tailed tits to the bully boy Great spotted ' pecker.
