Being someone who has an interest in just about anything to do with nature and science, and having lived in Australia for nearly 30 yrs, I was intrigued to hear about a new 500m reef discovered on the Great Barrier Reef.
Digging around online, I very rapidly found that it was discovered by a science team aboard the RV Falkor, using an ROV.
The best thing, though, is that the Schmidt Oceanographic Institute makes the vessel, along with crew and the latest technology, available, FOC, to scientists and all dives are streamed live to YouTube.
Could be, to some people, a bit like watching grass grow, but WOW!! The videos are gobsmacking thanks to the technology the SOI provide.
