Greenfinch call (1 Viewer)

link doesn't work (needs subscription or something) but yes, the call you refer to is diagnostic in a British context

The Brambling's song has a very similar sounding buzz. It's generally more level, without the slight downward trend of the Greenfinches song note. The Siskins (Pine and Eurasian) also have similar but downward slurred notes.

Thanks for the replies. I extracted the mp3 link from this page:

http://www.garden-birds.co.uk/birds/greenfinch.htm#Voice

It seems they check for access for their mp3 files being from their own pages.

The other birds mentioned are rarer, so presume the ones I hear around here are greenfinches.

After listening to that, it is a Greenfinch. Some have shorter versions of this calls as heard here. You can hear the slight harsh note at the very beginning of the call, sounding like "tcheeeer". Where as Bramblings is more "sheeeer" lacking that slight harsh beginning.

The link didn't work for me the first time I replied.
