Definately a heather but I've never seen one like this.

Erica verticillata or similar from South Africa.

S. Africa? I never knew or even associated Erica with Africa.

South Africa actually has the most species of Erica.

One learns something new every day.
My knowledge of African flora can best be described as poor. You find Acacia and grasses in E Africa, Rain Forest W. Africa, and the Mesembryanthemaceae and succulents from the arid lands in the South.
