Spotted at Glendurgan Gardens, Cornwall.
Definately a heather but I've never seen one like this.

One learns something new every day.
My knowledge of African flora can best be described as poor. You find Acacia and grasses in E Africa, Rain Forest W. Africa, and the Mesembryanthemaceae and succulents from the arid lands in the South.

The fynbos veg of far-south Africa (of which I guess this is a part) is remarkable for its diversity, wackiness and exuberance.
