Hi everyone, I thought it about time I introduced myself. I'm Julie and I am from Scotland. I've always had an interest in birds and wildlife. During the pandemic myself and my partner have spent a lot more time travelling in Scotland and have bought a house on the West Coast.
Our house is situated in front of Loch Fyne and I'm lucky enough to be able to see the Herons and Cormorants and Oyster Catchers (to name a few) from my living room window.
We were also lucky enough to spot a Golden Eagle one day. Since then I bought a camera with more of a zoom to be able to capture photographs.
I'm trying to learn as much as I can and be able to identify but it is way more difficult than I thought.
Thanks for having me on board!
I've attached a photo of my neighbourhood Heron for your pleasure !

Hi Julie and a warm welcome from all the Staff and Moderators.

All things Scottish can be found here. Keep an eye on threads titled Scottish Bashes, we used to have one or two meetings each year and they were all great fun. Maybe we'll be able to start them up again before too long.

Oh my!! How lucky you are to be able to live in such a beautiful area, and pretty rich in wildlife too. I'll look forward to hearing all about it and will maybe be lucky enough to see some of your pictures in the Gallery too. That's a super picture of the Grey Heron. BTW, in order for the thumbnail to display properly, you would need to resize it to under 5000 px, though most people load them at under 2000 px. (if you need help with this please don't be afraid to ask).

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

Hi Julie,
You and I are both in Loch Fyne. I live in Strachur. Loved your Heron. Just wish the Loch still had lots of fish to feed them. I remember when our bay was covered in mussels and it was awash with Oystercatchers and many other varieties of shore feeders.
