All right, fellow bird-lovers ... back in 2020, y'all helped this amateur blind birdwatcher identify a bluejay making unfamiliar calls.
Help needed with bird ID in Richardson, TX">
I'm hoping you can help me solve another mystery. I call it ... birds that go peep in the night.
Like in my last post, I haven't found anything in the Merlin Bird ID app that remotely matches this call. I've also done a sort of reverse search, reading about local nightbirds and looking up their calls, but to no avail. I'm guessing this is because they're quiet, intermittent and hard to capture. I've gotten a few recordings in the past year and a half, but none so close-up as this, so finally feel ready to share.
Um, except ... a quick disclaimer that I went gaga in the recording over being so close to one because they sound so adorable.
Good thing I'm mostly anonymous!
Thank you so much!
