Help with bird identification - call only - Sydney, Australia (1 Viewer)

Hello all, this bird seems to have found a home in our garden. But I haven't been able to see it yet. It does however, call out loudly around 3-4am
I thought it could have been a Channel Billed Cuckoo, I sent the call to WIRES, who didn't think so. So am hoping someone here can help.

Hi Alex and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Sorry can't help with the call, sounds sort of gamebirdish (is that a word LOL) but I'm probably well out on that!

And thanks mjh73, thats what it sounded like to me too. I can't think of anything else it could be. Also, its about the right time for them to start appearing on the East Coast.
