Herbicide (2 Viewers)

Against my instruction an herbicide (Specticle and Dismiss) was applied indiscriminately underneath my bird feeder. I tried spraying the area with a hose before it had a chance to dry but am now afraid to put any bird seed in the feeder ( birds feed off the dropped seeds ) Any ideas of what I could do to cover the area around the feeder ? Would ground tray feeders be a good idea despite their expense ? Is there a safe way to inactivate / get rid of the herbicide. This stuff stays active for 6-7 months.

Most workers require adult supervision to avoid problems. The problem with a herbicide is that it can kill the bacteria in the gut microbiome of animals, including people and birds. Roudup application to food crops is directly correlated with increases in ADHD and autism in the United States.

I would vacuum up all the seed on the ground and dump it in the trash.

If it was a lawn weedkiller it's likely to be an auxin (plant hormone) based one that leaves the grass intact. If so it's unlikely to cause the birds any harm (don't get me wrong, I'm not in favour of it). But you can't be sure so remove the feeders for a couple of weeks to allow any herbicide to break down.
