Hoverfly ID - (1 Viewer)

Hi All

I saw this hoverfly resting on some nettles. The thing that has thrown me is the marking on the frons, it seems very
distinctive and I am sure it is one of the Syphrini but that doesn't narrow it down much.

I don't think it is Eupeodes as it has yellow and black hairs along the abdomen. Epistrophe is earlier in the season.
Syrphus would seem more likely: dusted, bronzy thorax and October flight time.

Can someone please shed some light on this?

Yours, Gareth
