So… I wanted to see what all the hype was about and well! Yeah! I get it! These 8.5x42’s are absolutely insane and going from some Nikon aculon 8x42 well… They are crazy good! But! They come with that rubbish cloth bag which I ain’t want to be transporting them around in that… So… I know they do a Swarovski XL case but is that going to be too big? Any other suggestions? I don’t want to spend crazy like £60 max id day, the same as the Swarovski case

Thanks for any suggestions and help
Nick

Nick,

You are absolutely right.
It is a bloody shame that even the Chinese Swarovski junior has a bag and the Austrian Swarovski EL's (in price 4 to 6x more expensive) have a rubbish cloth as a bag. All of this in the name of cost reduction (for Swaro).

Believe me, Swaro is well aware of this issue and hopefully the new management is going to handle this mess differently.
BTW, if this bin is bought via a dealer, he can help you with a bag, otherwise PM me and I'll send you one FOC (only shipping cost and import tax since you lot decided to go out of the EU)!!!

Is there a reason you can't use or purchase a Swarovski harness bag? Or am I mispercieving the issue?

I did a goggley search and found in your price point. Granted these are USA centric.

my guess would be that having spend the best part of £2000 on some binoculars it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility to throw in a £60 bag
All the bags you link to are available in the U.K.

That, I am fully on board with.
To me purchasing a high quality tool of any discipline should also include its subsequent and affiliated accoutrements.

Yes, FBP XL is meant for SLC 56 so definitely too big. You'd want the L size which has disappeared, or the current FSB-L which fits sideways. Or any number of third-party cases, even $20 ones on Amazon are functional enough. Enjoy your classic EL!

I asked Swarovski once why they don't include a case anymore with the EL 8.5x42, and they said the case and the lengthening of the close focus was a money saving measure so they could lower the price of the binoculars and put them within the reach of the normal Joe.

I still think there is enough profit margin built in there that they could at least throw in a case. After all, even a $400 Nikon M5 comes with a case of sorts.

Enjoy the bins but, indeed, shameful Swarovski isn’t providing a decent bag with them…

To that accord good sir... I'm getting the latest greatest Kowa 55a Spotting Scope and I think it comes with lens covers and a cleaning cloth🤣🤣🤣🤣 the neoprene case(fitted) is about 200USD, personally I like the look of the canvas cordura type that covers the dual focus knobs from older models, 553 & 554... I see if they will fit. Talking to Kowa USA the new ones will only fit the new 55A. To that ends there is a slipon ring from company Aziak or something like that that allows for the scope to be utilized on rotation. That too will only fit the previous 55 models 553&4. 😲🤯🧐🤔😮‍💨🙄
