ID help please - Western Crete (1 Viewer)

Hello all

I would be grateful if someone would help me identify this large bird seen today (25th May 2011) at 16:00 not far from Chania and the coast in Western Crete. It flew overhead before landing for a while on this telegraph pole. My small book of birds and mammals of Crete has let me down!
