ID Plz: Papua New Guinea, Port Moresby, Tuna Bay resort- April 2 2023 (1 Viewer)

I saw these honeyeaters near the mangroves of Tuna Bay resort & also in some of the trees pecking at the fruit. I thought they were Yellow gaped honeyeaters but need second opinion. Thanks

I doubt Yellow-gaped occurs here, the large elongated ear spot looks better for Elegant Honeyeater. The yellow-eared Meliphaga/ Microptilotis are one off the most difficult of all groups.....
 
Thanks Phil for the reply. You are right the ear spot is long & elongated & more yellowish than Yellow gaped.
I doubt Yellow-gaped occurs here, the large elongated ear spot looks better for Elegant Honeyeater. The yellow-eared Meliphaga/ Microptilotis are one off the most difficult of all groups.....
 
Shape of the ear spot may be helpful, the elongated version on Elegant is helpful, but it is a remarkably hard group and Mimic is the fly in the ointment. I would go with Elegant for this one.
