It's true, I quite like Pigeons

I sort my pics (100000+) by folders - so all pics of Sparrows are in a folder named "Sparrows". Sometimes, often years later, I find that I've put pics in the wrong folders... maybe one or two amongst a group selected by accident before copy/pasting to the folder. I was looking through some old pics from 2011, and found the following pics in the "Mallards" folder.
I suppose the ID of the Corvid will be a good starting point to get an idea of size:
I've been going to these Reservoirs for over 40 years (only the last 10 not for Angling, though always watching/photographing Wildlife) - I've never seen a Rook, and only seen Flocks of noisy Jackdaws flying over a few times... I have always seen many Crows.
Sparrowhawks, Kestrels, and Peregrines all nest nearby - I see them often. I see Peregrines with their prey dangling in flight (often Wood Pigeons, as there's 100s there), but the prey can be almost anything. Other Raptors are seen flying over, but I've only seen Hobbies (and the Sparrowhawks, Kestrels, and Peregrines) with prey.
The pics were taken on 15th October 2011 at 08:16 am on a dull, cloudy morning... the are very heavy crops of distant birds.
Any thoughts? (I'm not that bothered, the bird has gone now
Oh, I think I remember what I decided it was on the day, but my memory is unreliable at times
