Ireland: odd looking meadow pipit? (1 Viewer)

Took these shots yesterday of a rather odd looking pipit at a small beach near Kinsale in Co. Cork.

When I first saw it I thought meadow pipit -- but the clear super / comparatively strong head pattern seemed wrong, and it looked big for a mipit ("lanky", rather than robust). It was doing a lot of running around on the ground, with a tendency to stand pretty upright whenever it stopped.

General consensus from a couple of people I've shown the photos to seems to be that it's a worn mipit... but I thought I'd post here, see what people think.

Pipits... almost as bad as gulls! :-(
