Is it Safe to Release Adult Mourning Dove (1 Viewer)

Back in November I rescued a full grown mourning dove that seemed to have been clipped by a car and was sitting in the middle of the road with a broken wing. After about 7 weeks he now seems able to fly quite well. When I open his cage for cleaning and feeding he will fly out and walk around the room. Being as I live in Northern Michigan there are no other mourning doves around until spring which would mean he would be captive for about six months. Once the mourning doves return would it be safe to release him since he was once wild and not raised from a baby?
