On the way home right near home the storm must have thrown it into the car, only 100 yards from home😢

Really shook up beautiful bird, I got out but could hardly stand up in the wind, it must have been hungry to hunt in that, it had stopped raining as they don’t like hunting in the wet.

This happened this afternoon in our cul-de-sac and we are only in the yellow area warning!

Its sad news, however, a lot of Barn Owls are killed each year by flying across the path of cars, an area near where we live had three killed the same way last year, poor things, life is hard enough for them, but you don't really have much chance when they come out of a field or hedge right in front of you!

I’m still in shock now sat in the house, poor little thing.
Yes, I can believe it coppo... a horrible experience. Back in the '80s I had a pheasant fly up from nowhere, straight towards my pickup.

He might have made it over the top of my car if I'd not got a loaded roof rack on. Every now and then that still comes back to haunt me.

I don't know where you live but in some countries the state veterinary agency might be interested in collecting the dead bird for examination.

Sorry for the uncomfortable experience, they are magnificent birds.

My worst Road casualty bird was while travelling in a coach through the Netherlands; a Grey Heron flushed from the roadside ditch, but didn’t rise up quickly enough…

Back in the 90s I did alot of night-shifts.
On the road from Marlborough to Pewsey a Barn Owl flew out in front of my lorry .
I had a superb view of it but sadly , even though I braked, it hit my windscreen .

:(
