Highlight of our 5 hour trek around the Knepp Estate today was a showy Turtle Dove, first one I've seen in a couple of years so very happy. Lots of young birds about, plenty of Deer and other Livestock on show. Heard a couple of Nightingales, Garden warbler and a few Blackcaps about the trial. Didn't hear or see any Cuckoos, have they gone already, surely not!!? We also saw a Slowworm right in the middle of the path seemingly deceased, no sign of any wounds or injuries, I've read they can play dead, so we left it well alone in the hope it was !!! More pics on the blog at the link!
