Kowa TS-601 problem (1 Viewer)

Hi ohls and welcome.

I can't for some reason see the video, but it sounds like the eyepiece zoom mechanism ring is free.

There may be grub screws that are not gripping.

Is it a secondhand scope?

But wait till someone who can see the video comments.

Regards,
B.

Hi,

first of all, welcome to birdforum!

The video link does not work, probably because you copied it from the studio site... you need to publish the video, go to the video on normal youtube (w/o studio) and copy that one...

As for the zoom, I had a quick look at my old 20-60 zoom (the infamous slim one from the 90s with the rubber eyecup) and it has a brass screw which slides back and forth in a notch on the below the bayonet... loosening that one probably will make the front element not move and thus no zoom action...
Not sure if you have the old zoom with the rubber eyecup - the 601 might have been sold with a more modern version too... which would be much preferable as the 90s vintage one is awful.

Cannot comment on the more modern zoom EPs - my example went to a fellow birder on here as I only use my Opticron SDLv2.

Sorry I copy the wrong link, it was exactly as jring says I copied from the studio. But this should work

Backup on dropbox

It's a scendon hand scope and I bought it from ebay. I payed around 250$ included tripod.

Hi,

ok, that is a later 20-60 zoom than the terrible one I have... This one is quite a bit longer and does indeed have multiple grub screws... my bet would be on the 3? just below the rubber eyecup... check if any are missing or loose...

Hi, I don't know which one it's no model number what I can see. It has only 20X, 40X, 60X and JAPAN ø60 marked on it.
