Last bird of 2014 (1 Viewer)

Well, there are still a few hours of 2014 to go here ... but I doubt I will encounter any more birds in that time! (Truly nasty weather out there, don't feel like going 'owling' tonight). So, I imagine my last bird of the year will be the American Crow I heard just before sunset.

The last few were Magnificent Frigatebird, Gray Kingbird, and Spectacled Thrush (unless a barn owl lets itself be heard during the next couple of hours)

As of today, Ancient Murrelet (a lifer!) and Brant (my final new bird for 2014, #326 for the year list).

I don't know what the actual last bird I saw for the year was, but those were the final two additions to my year list.

A pair of Great Horned Owls hooting in my front yard as I write this. But it's only 7:00pm here and there's every chance that I'll hear a flock or two of Canada geese flying overhead between now & midnight. The first bird tomorrow – if not a Canada Goose – will almost certainly be a California Quail.

Lesser Sooty Owl heard was last of 2014, first of 2015 was Spotted Catbird heard, first seen Black Butcherbird

500+ Starlings murmaration and no doubt a few gulls walking home but it was pretty dark and cold by then on my local patch (Portrack Marsh NE England) so it was head down and cold walk beside the river home to warm my belly with a Whiskey. Only at special times now lol.
