Good Morning,

I'm expanding the Opus article on Lewis / Isle of Lewis, which I'm finding can also take in Harris.

I'm interested in hearing from anyone with first hand experiences there they are willing to share.

This will be used to help facilitate the expansion.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
sbarnhardt

I haven't been for over a year because of covid, but the islands are great places to see wildlife, but there's usually some work involved to find it, a fair bit of driving and quite a lot of walking to find the rarer species. Spring time for the Corncrakes, heard but rarely seen, Divers flying over our cottage from the sea taking food to the hill lochs where their nest were. Raptors are quite abundant, Harris and the Uig peninsula are good places to see both Golden and White tailed Eagles. a boat trip on Loch Roag, can find Eagles and in summer also good for Basking Shark sightings. The Pentland road from Stornaway across the middle of the island takes you through some terrific peat land, little places to park as it's a single track road, but we saw Eagles, Harriers and Merlins quite regularly. The trip over on the ferry is also good for finding things like Puffins, Gannets and Manx Shearwaters and even Minke Whale.
