Little black lizards on cannock Chase. (1 Viewer)

Was having a walk on the Chase yesterday looking for adders actually..but didn't find any but did walk over one patch of land and all of a sudden seen a little black lizard about 2=3 inches long I guess..as I walked along seen more as I must of been disturbing them walking over them.any idea of what they might be anyone pls?

Common / Viviparous Lizard are the only ones on Cannock Chase. They do vary in colour a hell of a lot.

Many thanks Chris..I wondered cos I read there young are black but that's about August from what I remember so with it being may though maybe something else.
