Lleyn Peninsula birding blog & twitter feed (1 Viewer)

Thanks Cheshire Birder!

The peninsula, and especially the Aberdaron area on the mainland opposite Bardsey has had some tremendous birds but does not get a fraction of the coverage of the island.

Certainly bursting at the seams with potential...

Good Birding

Hi Andrew. this posting has come at a brilliant time for me as i coming to Porthmadog for a week from the 17th so I will be using your knowledge of the area to give me some good ticks. I have bookmarked your blog as well so i am looking forward to a good week. I'm useless on waders so this will be excellent for me and i'm certain of a few lifers. from what i have researched so far it looks a great area

Hi Bill

Hope you have a good week. Porthmadog is a great area. There's also a Facebook page for discussing the area's widlife. it's called 'Glaslyn Nature' and is regularly updated.

Good Birding

Andrew

Hi Andrew, I've recently joined Bird Forum and noticed your comment about the state of the RSPB. Very sadly I completely agree with all of your comments.

Despite being recruited whilst Mike Clarke was CEO it was only when in 2019 that Anne Kiceluk, the Director of Human resources, a political activist, introduced a high spending programme of Equality Diversity and inclusion with many new "Wellbeing" and "Transformation" jobs plus teams under the new "Transformation programme". The emphasis was on "Social justice" equality of opportunity this is despite the fact that the RSPB absolutely welcoming everyone who has a love of nature and conservation. The social justice jobs certainly had little mention of conservation.

Despite many letters pointing out the Equality Act had already been fully implemented and always membership welcomed everyone who had a joy of birds and conservation. The "cancer" of activism was allowed to arrive to solve a "problem" that did not exist. Membership of 5 to 6,000 was forecast. How wrong! Their forcasts have all failed at great cost to the Society.

I notice on Linkedin that Beccy Speight talked again about the need to address the "climate crisis" and the importance of Net Zero at the same time never mentioning how trashing vast agricultural areas for solar panels will likely lead to the collapse of Skylarks in Wiltshire, no cow pats, no insects, no food. Barn owls too will decline. This is not mentioned! The Society is infiltrated with this costly EDI ideology it is aggressive and should be called "The Royal Society for the Prevention of Climate Change. We need a clear out of many staff and new strong leadership that believes in science and whose priority is microsystems and conservation of land for the future. [email protected]
