Hi All ,

Im going to be honeymooning in inverinate on loch Duich from this Saturday (22nd) for 2 weeks me and the wife (Still sounds funny) would be wanting todo a bit birding while were up, So wondered if any locals or anyone Know of some good local spots and a list of species we might get to see.
we dont mind travelling about a bit so miles wont be a problem to see the right birds.

we would definately like to see both eagles if poss and crested tit and hen harrier,

we also considered a trip to islay for geese etc

First off, Congradulations !

If your staying at loch Duich the saltmarsh at the causeway near sheilbridge is good for waders including greenshank. Beyond the marsh Glen lichd is reliable for golden eagle, keep scanning those horizons ! Crossing Loch Duig to Glenelg is also worthwhile there are some well preserved brochs there and the surrounding woodland holds pine martin.

If you travel across to skye the road from Broadford down to Elgol (B8083) is good for sea eagle. I have seen them there, often soaring around near a small estuary near Torrin. Broadford bay on Skye is good for sea duck and divers and recently a little egret was present.

To see crested titwill probably require a drive upto Glen Affric near Cannich on the west side of loch ness. Is's a fantastically scenic glen with beautiful lochs and forests. There is also a chance of black grouse, redpoll and siskin.

I hope this is some help, Good luck !:t:
