A few shots of the Osprey's at Lockwood beck, yesterday.
2 present while we were there.
Other birds included flock of white fronted geese over, distant marsh harrier, grey heron, grey and pied wagtail, mallards, greylags etc.

Just the one distant shot Andrew, and they looked like white fronts to me.

Greylags can have black belly markings and a white rim to the bill.

wow some fantastic pics in here! Can anyone divulge the osprey location, had no idea they were so close I just saw my first last week, in the North of the Lake District with very distant views, would love to see them from a decent range.

If you can get to Bassenthwaite, go to Whinlatter Visitor Centre. They have a huge screen and the volunteers will bring you up-to-date with all this year's osprey history, and where to go to get the best views.

Dodd Wood has always been an excellent vantage point, but this year, I think good views are being had from the Whinlatter side of the lake, along the A66.
Take care, this is an extremely busy road, but there are lay-bys.

If you're looking for a good B&B, try Highside Farm, overlooking the lake.

The Ospreys (2) have been at Lockwood Beck Reservoir on the North Yorkshire Moors on the A171 Guisborough to Whitby road - well outside of County Durham. It's a trout fishery so it may hold them several days as they feed up before moving on. They've been there several days now.

Thanks all. It was bassenthwaite I went to and the dodd wood viewpoint, but they are quite a way away off in the fields to the left and they are basically small blobs in a telescope! Unfortunately they didnt fly whilst i was there hence me trying to find somewhere more local (to wyorkshire) where I can view these beautiful birds from closer range.
