Monarch 7 8x30 and eye placement (1 Viewer)

I love these bins. I was having a problem with eye placement, particularly eye relief. I found I had to rest them on my nose with a few mm between the eyepiece and my eyes, even with the eyecups fully extended. That worked well but I have since purchased some soft rubber eyecups from Amazon, 32-36mm for under £10. Now I use the bins with eyecups fully down and I can bury my eyes into the soft rubber cups. I find this a vast improvement in terms of comfort/enjoyment. For birding, I wouldn't bother to spend a penny more on any other bins, I'm sure I wouldn't notice any difference in the views. I recommend these soft rubber eyecups to anyone having the same issue!! Love these bins now. I go out with them in the pouch on my belt, no straps and no eyepiece caps, ready to grab and use and I don't even notice they are there!

Good tip, eye placement is pretty tricky with these. If you are frequently putting them and in and out of a pouch, be careful with the rubber armor. It wears down and stretches a lot from friction. Mine lasted 4-5 years before the rubber was completely destroyed on the bridge.

Thank you for your post. I have the same problem. So I tried your method to use an eyeshield. However, I ordered from eBay and found a suitable one after the second attempt. It is not that soft though it serves the purpose. The only problem now is it reduces the field of view.
