My first experience with birding. Birds won't come to my finch sock. (1 Viewer)

Hi Bella and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

How long is it since you put the finch sock up? In my experience it can take birds weeks (in my case months) for them to find a new feeding station. Try a dish of water for them to drink or bathe in; they may well attract some fly-over birds and hopefully they'll then spot the feeder.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.

I don’t know what a finch sock is but I recently moved to a new house and it’s taken nearly 3 months to get decent numbers of birds into the habit of visiting my feeding station.
Persevere, they will come

Hi, welcome to the forum. I think you will find us a friendly and helpful group. It does usually take some time before they will start coming.

It takes time for them to find this type of seed ( Niger or Thistle ) and feeder but once they do, you will be replenishing the sock daily. Usually Goldfinches and Redpolls are the ones to take advantage in the UK.

Welcome aboard Bella :t:

It took awhile for my finch socks to be noticed by the birds. You might try a couple of open type feeders to attract the birds and eventually they will try out the Finch sock. Keep us posted please ;)
