Hi, I am from Los Angeles County and have been birding casually for a little over 2 years. I am looking forward to combining this with travel, especially North America and Europe. I have family in Germany and Sweden, so will be looking there especially. Interested in festivals and places to go on my own (though maybe with a local guide for a day or two), or with a tour. Open to all seasons. Special fondness for owls, loons, swans, and all forest/meadow birds. Any and all suggestions/tips are welcome and appreciated!

Hi Susie and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

We have a number of articles covering both Sweden and Germany in our Opus Section: BirdForum Opus just type the name of the country into the search box and you will go to a page which shows all the places of bird and wildlife interest in that country, just click on any in which you are interested.

It's not easy to advise further here, without more knowledge of where in each country you are likely to be based. So I suggest you get some ideas on that from a) where your relatives are and b) other areas you'd like to visit, then post for more info in the Information Wanted forum

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.
