Hello. Please may I request help with a problem. I possess the above lens, an older model.
Recently I took the lens to a local business to have it cleaned of fungus that had accumulated inside on some of the elements.
Although that work was accomplished successfully, the lens came back minus the collar/tripod foot. This is very annoying. It seems the repair man has either lost it or broke it somehow. This means I cannot mount the lens on a tripod easily, or sell the lens on should I wish to. I havent had any redress, and have given up trying on that matter.
Unfortunately, with it being an older model lens, I cannot find a replacement either new or used. I have searched google, amazon, and ebay, all to no avail. On some web pages it is advertised, but you go to the page and it is "out of stock".
My research has revealed the iShoot N840d collar would do as a third party replacment . However that collar is out of stock online everywhere. I contacted iShoot but they said they no longer sell the collar.
That collar, (the N840d) is said to also fit the Nikon 80-400mm lens. Accordingly I am assuming my lens and the latter one can use compatible collars.
I would like to enquire of the forum users please if possible the following:
1. Does anyone know of any other model of collar that would work with my lens ie is compatible?
2. For that matter does anyone know where I might be able to buy a collar I can successfully use on the lens?
