October Moth (3 Viewers)

Not been able to keep up to date with my posts on my yearlist as personal circumstances derailed my year in many respects.

October has been kind in my Clevedon garden.

First Bristol Region record of Spoladeria recurvalis (9th) and second regional record of Golden Twinspot (10th).

If they are confirmed, also two possible Spiny Hooktips (uncinula) (18th) need Oak Hooktip (binaria) to be eliminated - the fresher specimen attached. Four confirmed British sightings to date but several presumed and it appears to already be resident on Holm Oak.

Otherwise two Radford's Flame Shoulder, four Gems, two Palpita vitrealis, Convolvulus Hawkmoth (two pics), four Vestals, three Delicates, two Dewick's Plusias, two Figure of Eights (a good year for them it seems), a couple of Dark Chestnut, two White-points, Cypress Carpets, Grey Shoulderknot, plenty of Green-brindled Crescents, Satellite, Feathered Thorns and at least half a dozen Merveille du Jour (which also seems to be having a good year).

All the best

Paul

Nice shots Paul & some fine moths. You've got the name a bit wrong on the first though- it should be Spolodea.
AKA Hawiian Beet Webworm...has been odd following various UK / Eu based threads an seeing people get excited about these....can get up to 5000 a night on the sheet here! It is always odd seeing the overlap of species

Not a one from last night - dry until about 5am when the rain came down. Forecast cool tonight (8-9c) and again dry until about 5 -not sure whether it's worth trying tonight or not...

The two Watsonalla uncinula (Spiny Hook-tip) have been confirmed which are currently the 4th and 5th British records.

All the best
