Pegasus Binoculars (1 Viewer)

Hello! My dad recently bought these Pegasus binoculars. I tried to look for the brand online but I couldn't find an official website or any information...just other people selling them...which I think is pretty weird.
I have to say that I am am not a professional when it comes to binoculars, these are the first binoculars that I ever touched (that were not toys) but I can say that the image quality is very good and they seem to be made from pretty good quality materials...also they seem to be in good condition...
If anyone has any information about these, when they were made, what could I use them for and so on, please leave a reply. Thanks |:d|

Hi Imni,

Welcome to Bird Forum!

The three pictures in the link you supplied show what purports to be an 8-20Power x 50 Zoom binocular.

Don't buy one. The mechanism that operates the Zoom feature will inevitably break sooner than later. Also it will have a narrow field of view.

A standard 8x42 Porro Prism binocular is a good binocular to start with. Here is a typical one.

Read the reviews on the binocular.

Hi Imni,

I agree with Bob.

Besides anything else these types of binoculars are usually poor quality.
I bought similar binoculars from the Daily Mail mail order for £12.
If one has such a binocular it is best left at about 12x or 14x permanently, as the zoom mechanisms are flimsy.

I have the 8x42 Bushnell H2O Porroprim binocular and it is O.K.

Another alternative is the Nikon Aculon 8x42 or 10x42 not waterproof. Or similar Olympus or Pentax.
All Porroprism binoculars.

Regards,
B.
