Hi,

Could this be a Middle Spotted Woodpecker?

I have only seen Greater Spotted before therefore im not sure on the tell tale signs of disguinguishing this species.

Yes definite Middle Spot; small bill safely excludes juvenile Great Spot (y)

Here's the 1st pic brightened a bit, shows it very nicely 1.jpg
 
Note 5-6 white lines on wings behind the white ovals, vs 3-4 in GSW, intensive streaking on the belly, and the red cap without black border. Also, the moustachial stripe is weak to absent, vs solid black belt in GSW.
 
For me the first pointer always is the pale red vent compared the deep darker red of Greater Spotted...
