Request advice please re. Manfrotto monopod (1 Viewer)

Hello. Please may I ask a question. I have a manfrotto monopod which I havent really used yet. I bought it second hand to mount the Nikon D7100 camera and 600mm long lens (Sigma C). I don't know much about monopods but I don't think it is a highly expensive one.
I tried it out with a small spotting scope recently. I found a problem. : When I extend it (it being "telescopic" in design) I extend each of the 3 parts, and lock them into place. However the bottom section "slips" without a great deal of pressure being applied. I think I can just about get away with this in regard to using it with a small spotting scope. However the real reason I got it was for the camera set up. The camera set up as you will agree, is relatively heavy. For that reason I would be reluctant to use the DSLR wiht long lens with the monoscope in case it slipped while in use. This is sad because it was for this purpose I bought it in the first place.
Please does anyone have experience of the same issue. Do you have any idea if the defect is repairable. Or is there any workaround that anyone knows about to make it stiff and safe in position.
Any advice would be really appreciated please.

What model is your monopod?

I have a Manfrotto 680B tripod and it came with this tool to tighten the lever locks. Have had to use it a few times.

Prefer the twist locks on my more recent tripods, which don't have this issue with the lock tightness.

I believe that you are correct about what is causing the problem. I like the quick locks, but they do require periodic adjustment. This does seem to be less of an issue with carbon fiber than it is with aluminum.

The adjusting tool is made to store snapped around a tripod leg. Check if it was included with your monopod.

You posted this question twice. My answer in the other thread:
Which one do you have? If it is a model with flip-locks, you may have to tighten the hex screw that is part of the lock so that the pinch collar is pre-tightened a bit more than the current setting.

The adjusting nut for the quick flip-locks has a plastic cover that needs to be removed before you can tighten it. It looks like a black plastic acorn nut.

Thank you for the belated reply and sorry to double posting my query. I have had a further look and am posting again below. Your kind comments if possible please would be much appreciated .

Hello. Sorry for the belated response. I have had a look for the black acorn nut but cannot see what it might be.

Further to the above I have asked someone to tighten the hexagonal nut but that didnt do the trick. As for the aforementioned "plastic acorn nut" I cannot see that one. Please may I take the liberty of attaching photos and request if possible please pointers as to a possible remedy

Thank you so much. My monopod doesnt have this tool.

It is an older type of mono pod and would have come with a small metal hexagonal box spanner for tightening the alloy pressure collar. They can be stripped, cleaned and reassembled though it sounds as that last ( bottom section ) leg section may have become pinched therefore causing the slippage you mention.
