Last year I posted a few pictures of a pair of Asian Paradise-flycatchers who I had observed building their nest just outside my office window. This nest was located in the same spot as the year before, even down to the exact same branch of a fig tree located in a ancient graveyard in the middle of Kashmir's busiest hospital. Note: We've exhausted the graveyard-in-hospital jokes, please
This graveyard is a bit of an oasis with an ancient elm and a number of mulberry and poplar trees. The previous year I had observed fledglings in the nest but last year the nest was lost in a severe hailstorm and I did not see the birds again. Fortunately, this story has a happy ending because the birds have returned to the same spot this year too. I took the attached picture today and it seems that the pair have started building their nest on an adjacent branch.
