Rowan berries (1 Viewer)

Hi

Does anybody know anything about Rowan Tree berries. I planted a hybrid last year which has produced a crop of pink berries but the birds just wont eat them. Are the pink berries poisonous to birds? Any advice gratefully received.

Welcome to BF Lakes. :t:

I have a Rowan with Red Berries and don't need to tell you anything, as KC's link tells you everything you need to know. :flyaway:

I have a tree book that states that Sorbus (Joseph Rock)has yellow berries, and the birds do not like the yellow berries. The book did not mention pink berries. Do you know the type of Rowan you have. I have a pyracantha and the birds eat the red berries first then eat the orange ones.

Hi Thanks for the reply. Yes I have a pyracantha and the birds have stripped it bare. That's why I'm puzzled by the the lack of interest in the pink berries on the Rowan. All I know is that my Rowan is not the 'usual' type with red berries but is some kind of hybrid.
