Dear all,
this species needs to be split in the opus. In that context, I started looking at what we had in the gallery and which could be confirmed to be either northern or southern. Some are already labeled - but do they fit the current criteria? I will link to 10 photos in this post and make further posts.

Royal Albatross?
Taking a chance with Albatross pics. If I have identified them incorrectly, please shout.

(Northern) Royal Albatross

Royal Albatross
Sometimes I print my photos on Photo Art Rag Paper and then come back in and paint things into the photo. It is my trompe l'oeil.

Royal Albatross, northern
Actually, it was my wife who took this photo, but she has allowed me to upload it here. This is a bird of subspecies sanfordi. I challenge everyone to id all the birds at the distance ;)

Southern Royal Albatross

Awesome - Totally awesome
Have just returned home to Oz after two weeks on a cruise ship enjoying the scenery of NZ. While getting good captures from a ship with the Kodak is not easy, watching these stunning Northern Royal Albatross control the skies around Taiaroa...

Flying Circus 1 - Royal Albatrosses
Taken on the Otago Peninsula near Dunedin, New Zealand South Island. A must if you are ever in this area. You will see the birds, whatever the time of year as there is a very long incubation and rearing period.
