Can someone please confirm/identify these as Ruff juveniles? Taken in Reietvlei Nature Reserve South Africa Oct

At a guess, some Charadrius-ish wader.
They're downy young, not juveniles, and - as your field guide will show you - ruff doesn't breed in southern Africa (nor anywhere outside of northern Eurasia).

They won't be juvenile Ruff as those don't breed anywhere near South Africa. I would guess at a juvenile Lapwing of some kind.

Shot in the dark but the prominent white nape might suggest a blacksmith plover chick... any plovers seen with it?

Edit- Seems as if most lapwing chicks look extremely similar not sure how you would distinguish between them.
