San Francisco Bay area duck (1 Viewer)

I took these photos on the evening of 2016-05-27 near the duck pond at Palo Alto Baylands park. I've seen birds like this before, but have never taken a photo or tried to identify them until now. I'm guessing these are non-native or domesticated birds, but I'm not sure.

Domestic mallard.

No idea what particular breed - probably a cross of multiple breeds. In searching around I even saw some mallard x muscovy crosses with a similar color pattern, but that's getting out of my depth. Your bird isn't showing any obvious muscovy traits that I can see.

Agree, a barnyard Mallard of no particular breed. Mongrel Mallards of various colors, shapes and sizes are a feature of duck ponds everywhere.

Yes, the muscovy cross would be chunkier. This one has the "wild mallard" thinness, only with a different color. I would enter it in eBird as domestic mallard.
