Hi All

I have few fleeting pictures of a sawfly that I haven't seen before.

After searching high and low I think it might be a Dolerus sp. - Perhaps Dolerus aericeps.
I found pictures of this species with forelegs that have red knees!

It was working it's way through knee high grass in a woodland ride.

The pronotum and mesoscutum (think that is correct) are both orange/red but there is a
black mark on the latter. This doesn't match D. aericeps and so makes me doubt my original
ID.

Could someone help on this>?

Thanks, Gareth

No takers?

Sorry I’ve been away , I think you are right with Dolerus .The only one I can think of with the black mark on the red is D . triplicatus , although the black is maybe more extensive . Not an expert though .
