Anybody any feedback on where to go and whether it is fruitful here.

Saturday & Sunday look very promising here.

I'm in work until five and then I have no computer access.

Lleyn Peninsula

Hello Runcorn Birder and everyone else. This is my first posting on this forum so this may not work, but here goes anyway.

Having moved up to Shropshire from the south earlier this year, I've been to the Lleyn Peninsula a few times to check out the obvious potential. However, whilst I've not been there in a decent gale, whenever I've watched the Manx Shearwaters and Kittiwakes pass during on-shore winds, they appear to be pushed out by Bardsey away from the headland.

It doesn't surprise me, therefore, that there have been some recent posting of seabird movements from slightly up the coast at Llangwnnadl, which has more of a Pendeen look about it with birds moving out of Caernarfon Bay and so may well be better than Uwchmynydd in a north or north-westerly wind such as we have at the moment. I would have thought that everything that passes The Range on Anglesey would track down the north coast of the peninsula before moving back out into the Irish Sea. Morfa Nefyn may therefore also be good.

However, the area around Uwchmynydd, particularly the valleys to the south and the headland itself, are superb birding areas and I look forward to visiting them regularly over the next few months. Harbour Porpoises also appear regular off the headland.

Now just need to locate a decent B&B.

Would love to hear what you saw- I was at Uwchmynydd for a few days at the beginning of August. Saw Manx Shearwaters crossing the Sound , GBB Herring Gull, Cormorants and at one point counted 27 Choughs on a mini fly past- love their sound and their antics. Also a pair of ravens. Many stonechats, wheatears and whitethroats too. I expect I missed alot too! Hope you had a good visit.
Sue.
